About Pizza Hut
The world's largest pizza restaurant chain, serving delicious pizza since 1958
Our Story
Pizza Hut was founded in 1958 by brothers Dan and Frank Carney in Wichita, Kansas. With a $600 loan from their mother, the brothers opened the first Pizza Hut restaurant and a legend was born.
The name "Pizza Hut" came from the small, hut-shaped building where the first restaurant was located — the sign only had room for 9 characters, so "Pizza Hut" fit perfectly.
From that small hut in Kansas, Pizza Hut has grown into the world's largest pizza restaurant chain, with over 18,000 locations in more than 100 countries, serving millions of pizzas every single day.
Pizza Hut is known for its iconic Original Pan Pizza, the Hand Tossed crust, Stuffed Crust, and beloved menu items like breadsticks, wings, pasta, and the legendary Personal Pan Pizza.
